J&K encounter: Three security personnel along with one security officer died, along the Line of Control or LoC in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kupwara district, officials said. J&K encounter

J&K encounter: Three security personnel along with one security officer died, along the Line of Control or LoC in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kupwara district, officials said.

One of the Border Security Force or BSF were also killed in the line of duty during a major anti-terror operation.

The incident took place in north Kashmir’s Machil sector. Though several encounters have been taken place but this was one of the biggest encounters in the Union Territory, since April.

Around 1 am, a patrol party of the Border Security Force noticed suspicious movements near the Line of Control.

They had challenged the intruders, resulted in a three-hour gun-battle where a terrorist was eliminated. One of the BSF constables was also killed in action.

Border Security Force said, “Constable Sudip Sarkar had lost his life during the operation in Machil Sector. Reinforcements received from Indian Army, the Joint operation still underway.”

The gun-battle ended around 4 am, as the army moved in reinforcements.

At the time of the incident, that is 10.20 am, more intruders were approximately 1.5 km from the Line of Control. A fresh gunfight erupted in which an army officer and two jawans died.
