National Conference on Farooq Abdullah questioning: Senior politician Farooq Abdullah on Monday questioned by the Enforcement Directorate in an alleged case of irregularities Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association.

This move has come into effect of Farooq Abdullah’s National Conference linking to an idea of bringing together all the J&K parties in a campaign for restoring special status.

Stating that the letter is a ‘clear political vendetta’ after the formation of People’s Alliance’ in Kashmir, National Conference spokesperson said, “The letter from the Enforcement Directorate came after the Gupkar declaration. It is clear political vendetta after the ‘ was formed in Kashmir.”

Adding to this, the spokesperson said that they had known it earlier that it was coming since ruling BJP at the centre was using its agencies to fight the new political formation because it, “couldn’t fight it politically”.

Rebuking over the functioning of Bhartiya Janata party by continously employing coercive and intimidative measures through various departments to target opposition leaders across the country. Clearing pointing out that the PD has paid a heavy price after opposing the BJP’s ideology and divisive politics.

The National Conference said, “This is the price one faces when opposed to the BJP’s ideology and divisive politics. Recent history is witness to how the BJP has been. The recent ED summons to Farooq Abdullah is a case in point.”

Abdullah maintained a stance that it is ‘very clear’ that it’s innocence and would co-operate in what is “nothing but a witch-hunt”.

People’s Democratic Party (PDP) leader Mehbooba Mufti tweeted: “ED’s sudden summon to Farooq sahab displays the extent of GOIs nervousness about mainstream parties in J&K fighting as one unit. Also, reeks of political vendetta & won’t in the least blunt our collective resolve to fight for our rights.”

Earlier, Abdullah aged 82,  was summoned by the agency was in July 2019, days before the centre’s  August 5, move to end the special status to Jammu and Kashmir under Article 370. It is divided into two union territories.

Abdullah, his son Omar Abdullah and Mehbooba Mufti- all former Chief Ministers- were among the scores of the politicians were detained at the time.

At the same time, Abdullahs,  were detained under the strict Public Safety Act,  which were released earlier,  this year. While Mehbooba Mufti was freed last Tuesday.

Abdullahs, Mehbooba Mufti, Sajjad Lone gathered on Thursday and formed the People’s Alliance for Gupkar Declaration to combat the restoration of Article 370 and “resolution of Kashmir”.

This was based on the ‘Gupkar Declaration’ that was signed on August 4, 2019, post-meeting of an all-party meeting at the Gupkar Road home of Mr Abdullah in Srinagar.

All the regional parties and the Congress resolved to protect the Jammu and Kashmir’s special constitutional status and fight against any move to dilute it.

Following a day, it had enforced its massive Article 370 decision.
