Assam Assembly Election 2021: Govt. Reduces Petrol Price By Rs. 5, Liquor Duty By 25 Percent

Assam Assembly Election 2021: Ahead of the Assam election, the Assam government on Friday decided to reduce the fuel prices by Rs 5 and cut the duty on liquor by  25 per cent. This decision comes in when the fuel prices are at an all-time high across the country.

Announcing the new rates in the state Assembly the, Finance Minister Hemanta Biswas said that during the peak of Covid-19,  they‘d levied an additional cess on petrol, diesel, and liquor.

Now the number of OVID 19 patients has been reduced and he is grateful to be part of cabinet colleagues who agreed to his proposal to officially state that the contract is no longer valid to this additional cess.

Thereby, the decision has come into the force to allow the rates of petrol and diesel will become cheaper by ₹ 5 per litre with effect from Friday’s tonight.  Thus, benefitting lakhs of consumers across the state of Assam.

The finance minister presented a vote-on-account for an aggregate expenditure of rupees 60,784.03 crores. The tenure for the presenting the vote on account is first six months of the current fiscal.

Petrol prices have been soaring high across the country since January 6, 2021, after remaining unchanged for almost a month.

As Covid-19 vaccination drives have begun all across the world, this decision holds a significance amid a rally in global crude oil prices.

Meanwhile, the Assam election has been scheduled for March-April. Assam elections will be crucial for the state as CM  Sarbananda Sonowal looks forward to retaining power.

Renowned political names like Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah, are in the run-up to the polls.

Recently, the Prime Minister had permitted to grant over lakh land titles to the state’s indigenous communities. Later, he also instituted various developmental projects during a continuous and subsequent visit.

The latest Union budget was presented by the Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman who kept a limited amount building of roads across the state.
