Meghalaya CM Congrad Sangma re-elected for NPP’s national president post

Chief Minister Conrad Sangma has been re-elected as national president of National People’s Party (NPP) at the General Council meeting in Shillong today, says report.

Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma has been re-elected as National People’s Party (NPP) national president without any contest at the General Council meeting in Shillong today, February 9, 2019, according to reports in a leading website. The NPP is a part of the North-East Regional Political Front, which has supported the National Democratic Alliance (NDA). Various party functionaries attended the General Council meeting Meghalaya, Assam, Manipur, Nagaland,  Mizoram, Arunachal Pradesh including Rajasthan, Maharashtra, and Tamil Nadu.

The National People’s Party (NPP) is a state-level political party founded in the year 2013. Meanwhile, Conrad Sangma recently in while adressing a meet said that his party will decide on quitting NDA at an ‘appropriate time’ over the Citizenship Amendment Bill 2016.
