Adrian Kosicki, the Cocoa Beach Police Officer dives into the ocean quickly while on an evening stroll on the beach to save the boy.
In what seemed a heroic save, an off duty officer in Florida saved a little boogie boarding boy within a split of a moment from a shark attack. The shark was swimming dangerously close towards the boy.
Adrian Kosicki, a Cocoa Beach police officer and his wife were taking a stroll with their dog on the beach on Thursday evening. A footage released by Cocoa Beach police shows a shark swimming towards the boy. An onlooker yelled and alerted after noticing the shark while the other onlookers were heard shouting in the background.
Within moments, the police officer dived into the ocean and swiftly pulled the boy along with the surfboard to safety onto the shore, before the shark could get closer to the boy. The shark then had quickly disappeared into the waters.
The Cocoa Beach police wrote on Facebook that the exact species was not immediately clear and they did admit they aren’t educated or trained to identify different species of the shark and their feeding habits.
The note further read that they would do their best to protect the public form harm and thanked Adrian for saving the child and that the kid would have a pretty cool story to tell.
According to Breward Times, the Cocoa beach usually witness Bull sharks, Spinner sharks, small Bonnethead sharks and Blacktip sharks. The international Shark Attack file states that Florida accounts for most number of shark attacks in the US.
The Cocoa Beach located in Breward County has the second highest number of shark attacks in Florida. The most numbers are recorded in Volusia County according to Breward Times.

Adrian made the decision to quickly enter the water and pull the boy from the surf as the shark began to get dangerously close, within only a couple of feet at its nearest distance. We’re certainly not marine biologists, educated and trained to differentiate between the various species of sharks, their respective feeding habits, and aggressiveness near swimmers. We just do what we do best—protect the public from harm.Thanks to Adrian, we’ll never know what that shark’s intentions were, and that little boy will forever have a pretty cool story to tell.
