Waxham Death: Mother Drowns Trying To Save Son, Friend From Kayak Accident

Waxham death: A woman in her 30s was sadly ‘pronounced dead’ after she went into the sea to save her son and her friend who had troubles with their Kayak. The incident occurred on Sunday in Waxham, Northfolk. The incident took place on Sunday evening around half past five on a local beach in Waxham where there were quite a lot of people enjoying the sun.

An eyewitness confirmed that the woman, locally known as Danni, was seen suddenly jumping into the sea after she found out that her son and his friend had trouble with Kayak. The onlookers had immediately called the emergency services and the rescue teams.

In response, the emergency services including coastguards, ambulances, paramedics and rescue helicopters immediately arrived at the spot and managed to pull out everyone from the spot but sadly the woman was pulled lifeless from the sea while the boys had survived the accident. The beach is known for hazardous riptides there have been reports of such incidents in the past.

An onlooker took to her social media to describe that she was devastated to witness the whole incident right from scratch. She said that she saw them having fun and then getting into trouble and so she had called the coastguard. She wrote that two guys went in and rescued the boys but even she was brought back but further she added that the boys must have been traumatized witnessing the whole incident.

According to Superintendent of Police, Jason Broome ‘ Northfolk coastguards and East of England ambulance services assisted in the operation. A woman in her 30s was pulled out but unfortunately, she has been pronounced dead upon arrival at the hospital’.

The tragedy came in just a day after a young man in his 20s was drowned in a water-filled quarry at Bawsay County Park, near King’s Lynn, Northfolk.
