Children’s publishing giant Scholastic has announced the death of its longtime serving CEO Richard Robinson aged 84. According to the statement released by the publishing house, Robison died Saturday, June 5.

“We are deeply saddened by the sudden passing of Dick Robinson,” Scholastic’s board of directors expressed in the release also adding, “Dick was a true visionary in the world of children’s books and an unrelenting advocate for children’s literacy and education with a remarkable passion his entire life.”

Meanwhile, the cause of Richard Robinson’s death was not immediately provided by the publishing giant. He was in excellent health and his untimely death has left the entire publishing fraternity in distress.

Born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania Robinson is also known as Dick Robinson, who served as the President of Scholastic Inc. since 1974, Chief Executive Officer since 1975. He was elected Chairman of the Board in 1982.
