Maha Kumbh Mela 2025: Affordable Rations And Gas Connections For Devotees

By Rupa Das Updated - December 31, 2024

In the upcoming Maha Kumbh Mela 2025, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath is striving to give the event a divine and grand new look. Special arrangements have been made, focusing particularly on the food needs of the devotees, Akharas, and Kalpvasis. This time, a unique initiative has been introduced to ensure the availability of essential food items at affordable prices.

Under CM Yogi’s guidance, 138 fair price shops have been set up in the fair area. These shops will provide ration at nominal prices to Akharas, institutions, and Kalpvasis. For the first time, food will be made available at such low prices on such a large scale. Akharas and Kalpvasis will be able to buy flour for just Rs 5 per kg and rice for Rs 6 per kg. Additionally, sugar will be available at the rate of Rs 18 per kg. The provision to distribute food at such reasonable rates will be a relief for many, making it easier for the devotees to manage their food needs during their stay.

The government has also taken a step further by providing large-scale storage and supply facilities to ensure smooth distribution. Five food grain storage warehouses have been established in the fair area to stock up on essential items. These warehouses will hold 6000 metric tons of flour, 4000 metric tons of rice, and 2000 metric tons of sugar. This is done to ensure that there is no shortage of food supplies during the fair.

Comprehensive Cooking Facilities For Kalpvasis, Akharas, And Institutions

In addition to the food supply in Maha Kumbh Mela 2025, the Yogi government has also made arrangements for cooking facilities. Agencies have been appointed in all 25 sectors of the fair to provide gas connections to Kalpvasis, Akharas, and institutions. New gas connections will be offered, along with a complete arrangement for refilling them. Kalpvasis who already own empty gas cylinders can also get them refilled at the fair. The fair will have special facilities for filling three types of cylinders: 5 kg, 14.2 kg, and 19 kg cylinders.

As part of this arrangement, each Kalpvasi will receive a monthly ration consisting of 3 kg of flour, 2 kg of rice, and 1 kg of sugar. This ration will be distributed from January to the end of February. The introduction of the “One Nation One Card” system will also allow Kalpvasis to easily access the ration facilities. Each fair price shop will be stocked with 100 quintals of goods to ensure there are no shortages.

These measures are designed to make the Maha Kumbh Mela more accessible and comfortable for everyone involved. By providing affordable food, cooking gas, and storage facilities. The Yogi government is ensuring that Akharas, institutions, and Kalpvasis can focus on the spiritual significance. This initiative represents a new chapter in how large-scale events like the Maha Kumbh are managed, prioritizing the well-being and convenience of every devotee attending the Mela.
