The economy of the country has been an agrarian economy, 90% of our population was dependent on agriculture itself, but after the LPG policies, there was a rapid migration of landless farmers from agriculture to the cities but after the nationwide lock-down, workers living in cities returned to their villages.
These workers are now looking for employment opportunities in the villages. The MGNREGA scheme of the government has also become a major medium of employment for the people. If the government adds the tree plantation program in this scheme, in the coming times, these trees will become trees and provide us a pure environment, while their products will become a major source of income for the rural economy.
Peepal Baba said that, at this time, we should focus on food grains as well as planting trees because the supply of food grains will be the same, the rate will also fall due to more goods in the market. If the government employs the laborers from outside in its care by planting trees (rosewood, mango, guava, teak, berries) on the village social lands of all the villages of the country, then these trees will increase greenery in the whole country. Together, they will become a major source of income for the government and the gram sabha.

Now, due to the involvement of more people in agricultural work, where the production will be more than the need, due to this, the prices of agricultural crops will also fall, the per capita agricultural income will be less, in such a way that if people plant more trees around their land or some part of the land. If we take care of the entire tree by planting it, then it will be their fixed deposit because after 20 years, these trees will be ready and put four moons in improving the economy and environment.
Our country is an agricultural country. At the time of independence, more than 87% of our country’s economy was based on agriculture, due to the policies of LPG (liberalization, privatization and globalization) introduced in 1991, agriculture’s contribution to our economy was reduced.
Coronavirus Pandemic and Agriculture
In India, due to the Coronavirus pandemic, millions of workers have become unemployed. In this scenario, people who have returned disappointed from the cities are searching for their way of livelihood in their villages. A lot of people don’t want to go back to the cities due to inconveniences in lock-down.
There has been a large number of people joining agriculture during the pandemic. Those who were employed in the cities have come to the villages and engaged in farming, as a result, there is a lot of possibility of increasing production in agriculture. In this situation we will need a big market if export promotion units are not developed to buy our production, till then this increased production will not benefit the people engaged in farming operations.
