PV Sindhu, the first Olympic silver medallist of India has once again proved her flair for the game. Sindhu after losing seven straight finals has got a straight-game victory in the BWF World Tour this year. Moreover, this medal marks her 14th career medal, but this year’s first medal in an International badminton tournament. Showing an outstanding game Sindhu screamed with joy and tears rolled down her cheeks after she thumped a smash across the net to seal her victory. She finally clinched the gold medal and the winning title.
As per reports in a leading daily, Sindhu since September 17, 2017 had participated at the Korea Open, Hong Kong Open, BWF World Tour Finals, India Open, Commonwealth Games, Thailand Open, World Championships and Asian Games but managed to bag only a silver medal in the tournaments. Everyone seemed to put up question marks over her capability and to play out the games. However, with this win, the star player has proved that she isn’t the competitor who could lag behind.

The week of the tournament had witnessed PV Sindhu beat World No. 1 Tai Tzu Ying after in her sixth match till jumping to the finals against Okuhara. In the match on Sunday, i.e. on December 16) in China’s Guangzhou, Sindhu got a 21-19, 21-17 in straight sets to win over Nozomi Okuhara of Japan. The star player have also created history becoming the first Indian shuttler to clinch a gold at the year-ending tournament, which also holds the top-8 world ranking players in the world.
