Manipur: Major Drug Seizure Foiled By Security Forces, Smuggling Attempt Worth Rs 75 Lakhs

In a significant anti-drug operation, security forces in Churachandpur, Manipur, seized a large consignment of illicit drugs worth over Rs 75 lakhs in the international black market. The seizure was made along the Manipur-Myanmar border on Sunday, following a tip-off from intelligence sources.

Arrest Of Two Suspected Smugglers

The operation led to the arrest of two individuals, P Thangkhanlam (45) and Mangliankhup (32), both residents of Churachandpur district. They were apprehended while transporting the contraband in a four-wheeler. The security forces acted swiftly after receiving reliable intelligence regarding the suspected drug smuggling activity.

Details Of The Seized Drugs 

Upon interception, the authorities discovered a significant quantity of illegal substances. The contraband included 537 tablets of suspected WY (methamphetamine), weighing 60 grams. Along with the WY tablets, the security forces also recovered approximately 776 grams of suspected Brown Sugar. Brown Sugar was packed in 60 soap cases. The haul indicates a large-scale smuggling operation with a potential high value in the international market.
