The moon and five planets will be visible to the naked eye this Sunday. Here is a guide to some essentials and procedures you’d need to follow to have the best stargazing experience.

Get out our binoculars! This Sunday is a must watch for all stargazers. You should be able to spot five planets and a crescent moon. This exceptional celestial event will occur two hours before sunrise. You will get to witness Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, and Saturn and of course the moon.

The planets will be bright enough that they would be visible by the naked eye. However it is advised to get binoculars or a telescope to get a clear view of Mercury. The planets will look as if extremely bright stars. With the help of many sky scanning apps available today, you can point your device exactly towards the stars and you can find out exactly what your are looking at.

According to astronomers, towards the southwestern sky you should be able to spot Saturn with Jupiter shining just above and to the right, a curved line will be noticeable between Jupiter and Saturn, which will be Mars.

Venus is going to be the brightest and easiest to spot if you follow the curved line down towards the northeastern horizon. Mercury might be the faintest and the last to be visible to the eye.

Mercury should be visible towards the northeast only 45 minutes before the sunrise. As for Jupiter, if you happen to have a telescope you might want to focus it on Jupiter and try to look for its four largest moons.

The sunrise will be around 5 am GMT in London and just before 6 am ET in New York.
