University of California San Francisco researchers believe a nasal spray could be one of the keys to dramatically slow down the spread of the coronavirus.

Covid-19 cases are rapidly increasing worldwide and everyone has an eye on the medical authorities looking for the coronavirus vaccine. Despite this, pharmaceutical companies, scientists, researchers and doctors are working to manufacture the vaccine as soon as possible. Many countries like Russia, Japan, USA, India, China and the UK are in the third phase of the clinical trial.

On the other hand, UCSF scientists have developed the Nasal Spray to fight against Covid-19. Scientists said,” They have developed molecules which can help fight the virus. They say these synthetic antibodies, called AeroNabs, can be managed as a nasal spray to protect people from coronavirus. They claim that one spray will help you to protect from the virus because it’s so stable we can essentially put in one of these, this is a little nebulizer,” said Dr. Aashish Manglik, M.D., Ph.D. of UCSF.

Dr. Manglik says the aerosolized agents known as Aeronab’s were traced initially as a tiny molecule discovered in camels and similar animals, called a nanobody. They’re smaller than human antibodies, and can be manipulated to perform specific tasks. Like attaching themselves to the spike proteins on the coronavirus.

The virus uses spike proteins to infect lungs cells which further generates more virus cells. The team’s research led to the engineering of a more potent version of the nanobodies, which resulted in the creation of synthetic antibodies known as “AeroNabs.”

The goal is to make AeroNabs an inexpensive, over-the-counter medication with the potential to be available in months. But Schoof said we are still dealing with science and it is important to not set a hard timeline for its availability. Looking at the graph, there are 65,3622 active cases in India. 56,383 patients have recovered in the last 24 hours and the spike of 66,999 cases are reported in the last 24 hours with a tally of 942 people who lost their lives because of coronavirus.
