Defying rules, Donald Trump repeatedly hints he wants to have a third term as president of the United States.
US President Donald Trump once again suggested he would negotiate a 3rd term, a full 12 years in the White House saying he is “probably entitled” to it. Trump feels he is entitled for a 3rd term as his first 2 years in office was marred by Robert Mueller’s probe which didn’t allow him to govern freely.
At a campaign rally in Nevada, Trump told a maskless and non-socially distant crowd, “And 52 days from now we’re going to win Nevada, and we’re going to win four more years in the White House,” and continued talking about his 3rd term fantasy, “And then after that, we’ll negotiate, right? Because we’re probably – based on the way we were treated – we are probably entitled to another four after that.”
Trump has repeatedly pointed out that he’s been treated unfairly by the liberal media in comparison with his predecessors and frequently argued that the Russian investigation and the impeachment damaged the first 2 years of his presidency, floating the idea that he wants to serve more than 2 terms in office.
During a rally in August, Trump enthralled the crowd saying “they spied on my campaign” and pushed the notion that a 3rd term is on the way. “We are going to win four more years,” Trump said to a cheering crowd and added, “then after that, we’ll go for another four years because they spied on my campaign. We should get a redo of four years.”
In November 2018, Trump was thrilled to find out Chinese President Xi Jinping’s presidential term limit was abolished and praised the move saying “We’ll have to give that a shot someday.” He said to Chris Wallace in a Fox interview, “He’s now president for life. President for life. No, he’s great. And look he was able to do that. I think it’s great. Maybe we’ll have to give that a shot someday.”
However, Trump has also stated that he was only joking when he speaks about seeking a 3rd presidential term and during a recent rally, as the crowd chanted ‘4 more year’, Trump said, “If you want to upset them, you should say 12 more years” and gave out a laugh and the crowd chanted “12 more years”.
