No warning shots had been fired at HMS Defender, said Britain's Ministry of Defence (MoD).

Britain: No warning shots had been fired at HMS Defender, said Britain’s Ministry of Defence (MoD).

This statement came after Moscow’s defence ministry was quoted as saying that HMS Defender entered Russian territorial waters near Crimea. The incident happened when patrol ship fired warning shots and a jet dropped bombs in its path.

It added that the ship was sailing in Ukrainian waters.

In a statement, British Defence Secretary Ben Wallace said that HMS Defender was on its routine transit. It got entered in an internationally recognised traffic corridor.

Russian vessels overshadowed the passage. Training exercises were made awared in her wider environment.

The gunnery exercise was going on as a routine process by Russians in the Black Sea. It issued a warning before of their activity.

No shots were ordered at HMS Defender. They do not recognise the claim that bombs were dropped in her path.

Russia also adds that the incident happened near Cape Fiolent in the south of Crimea. In a statement of the defence ministry to Russian news agencies, it was mentioned that the British vessel subsequently changed course.

In 2014 Russia seized Crimea from Ukraine no official record is presently internationally.

Interfax news agency further reported that the British embassy’s defence attaché has been mustered to the Russian defence ministry.

According to the Royal Navy’s website, HMS Defender is a Type 45 destroyer that is a part of the UK’s Carrier Strike Group which carries out missions in the Black Sea.

According to the British embassy in Ukraine, earlier this week, the warship was in the southern Ukrainian port of Odessa. The UK and Ukraine had an agreement to jointly build warships and construct two naval bases.

Meanwhile, three years after Russia seizure of Crimea. A move that was criticised by Ukraine’s government, the region still is in a state of flux. The flux is creating difficulties while entering into and for many people it’s difficult to know where it’s going.
