North Carolina Shooting: The shooting incident happened around midnight at an "impromptu block party" that was a continuation of the Juneteenth celebration.

North Carolina Shooting: Two persons were killed and seven others were injured in a gun shooting in North Carolina’s largest city. The five others were hit by vehicles after the incident took place, according to police reports.

The shooting incident happened around midnight at an “impromptu block party” that was a continuation of the Juneteenth celebration, Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Deputy Cheif Johnny Jennings told media persons this morning, As a call was responded by police about a pedestrian hit witnessed hundreds of people in the streets. After the emergency service arrived, police had to fire several shots to disperse the crowd. He further added as the people were trying to escape from the spot five people were hit by the vehicles.

As per police, there was evidence of multiple shooters. It was not immediately known whether anyone was in custody. The shooting incident took place on Beatties Ford Road in northern Charlotte. Further details were not immediately available

Juneteenth is a portmanteau of June and nineteenth, which is also known as Freedom Day, Jubilee Day and Liberation Day. is a holiday celebrating the emancipation of those who were taken as slaves in the United States. Originating in Texas, it is now celebrated annually on the 19th of June in the entire United States, with varying official recognition. Specifically, it commemorates union army general Gordon Granger announcing federal orders in Galveston, Texas on June 19, 1865, Proclaiming that all slaves in Texas were free.
