Reliance Entertainment is confident Sooryavanshi and 83 will have a grand theatre release during Diwali or Christmas respectively.
Akshay Kumar to play the role of a cop in Sooryavanshi and Ranveer Singh to portray the character of Kapil Dev in 83.
The Coronavirus outbreak has effected not only the business world, but also Bollywood. Theatres all across the country are closed since six months and they’re revenue is dwindling down. The government has not taken a decision to open cinema halls yet and that has got single theatres and multiplex owners worried.
However, Reliance Entertainment has expressed confidence and faith that their upcoming production – Akshay Kumar’s Sooryavanshi and Ranveer Singh’s 83 will have a grand silver screen release during Diwali and Christmas respectively.
Reliance Entertainment Industry on its Twitter handle wrote that they are expecting the ongoing situation of COVID-19 to be healed soon and movies such as Sooryavanshi and 83 will hit the theatres, and not directly on OTT platforms.

Earlier, the CEO of Reliance Entertainment Industry, Shibhashish Sarkar, hoped that the situation won’t worsen, because they don’t want to take any chance to push the dates for the release of movies further. He emphasized on the prevailing situation, making it clear that, the group is fully furnished with the release of the movies on their committed dates.
However, if the situation doesn’t seem better, they need to explore all options between theatrical, digital both TVOD and SVOD routes, in consultation with our directors, actors and partners. Ever since the Covid-19 pandemic spread across the world, theatres have been closed, and now people seem to be excited to see movies in theatres.
Besides this, the sports-drama ’83’ which was directed by Kabir Khan and starred Ranveer Singh as Kapil Dev, retouches India’s first World Cup win in 1983. While, on the other hand, ‘Sooryavanshi’ is a commercial project directed by Rohit Shetty’s cop-universe. It features Akshay Kumar and Katrina Kaif in the lead roles.
Above all, India is the third-highest country with maximum number of Covid-19 cases after the United States and Brazil.
