Karate Kid Fame Ralph Macchio Speaks About His Reprise Version In Cobra Kai

From painting to fencing, the Karate kid star Ralph Macchio to comeback in the same character as Daniel LaRusso, but a little older.

The New York-born actor, Ralph Macchio, who gained fame in 1984’s The Karate Kid, after impressing in Francis Ford Coppola’s The Outsiders expressed his enthusiasm for his new series Cobra Kai. In a telephonic interview, The Karate Kid fame said that he will still carry the Kid title, even though he is far from it. He added that he will hang on to it as long as he can.

Macchio is bringing back The Karate Kid’s boy hero, Daniel LaRusso, who this time will be a more complicated man. The actor is going to reprise the role for the YouTube series Cobra Kai. The web series Cobra Kai ran for two seasons on YouTube and became a surprise hit. Reportedly season three will not premiere until 2021, but the previous seasons arrive on Netflix Aug. 28.

The series revolves around a middle-aged LaRusso (Macchio) running a successful car dealership, while his one-time rival, Johnny Lawrence (William Zabka, also recreating his role),will be shown as alcoholic. The series this time turns the tables on its two characters. First, Lawrence is the scrappy upstart while LaRusso is the cocky top dog. The story of Cobra Kai talks 30 years after the events of the 1984 All Valley Karate Tournament.

He also talked about technology which is exploiting and exploring. He quoted an example of the police portrayed in the Deuce and police in NYPD. He enhanced the effects of social media, which has magnified every aspect of the story. He further said that within a time frame whatever you see, will be flooded on Twitter and Instagram. He exclaimed that technology gives you the ability to shine a light on something, even though it may not be clear what you’re looking at.

The 58-year-old actor is best known for his roles as Johnny Cade in The Outsiders, Jeremy Andretti in Eight Is Enough, Bill Gambini in My Cousin Vinny, Eugene Martone in Crossroads, and Archie Rodriguez in Ugly Betty.
