Sushant Singh Rajput death case: Mumbai police are investigating allegations on professional rivalry, besides clinical depression, that drove the actor to suicide.

Sushant Singh Rajput death case: Mumbai police sought a statement from Yash Chopra Films chairmen Aditya Chopra regarding a contract signed between Sushant Singh Rajput and YRF. Aditya Chopra visited Versova police station on July 18 morning to record his statement with Mumbai police in connection with Sushant Singh Rajput death case.

The actor was found hanging at his apartment on June 14. There was no suicide note at the spot according to the police report. The police are investigating allegations that professional rivalry, besides clinical depression, drove the actor to suicide. Police are also trying to understand the reason behind Rajput ending his contract with YRF, the official said.

Earlier, Mumbai Police had recorded the statement of YRF’s casting director Shanoo Sharma. In connection with Sushant’s death, police have taken statements from 34 people, including Rajput’s family members and close friends including actor Rhea Chakraborty and Sanjana Sanghi.

On Thursday Rhea Chakraborty demanded a CBI inquiry into Sushant Singh Rajput’s death case. However, Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh says that Mumbai Police can handle the case alone and no CBI probe is needed.

On Friday, the Mumbai Police recorded the statement of the actor’s psychiatrist, Dr Kersi Chavda, in order to know the actor’s medical history, his recent mental state before his death and about the changed dosages of medicines. Apart from Dr Chavda, statements of three other doctors have also been recorded by the Bandra police.

Talented actor Sushant’s suicide has led to many controversies in the Film Industry which are facing allegations of nepotism and cliques. The actor starred in films such as ‘Shuddh Desi Romance’, ‘Raabta’, ‘Kedarnath’ and ‘Sonchiriya’. But his most prominent role came as cricketer Mahendra Singh Dhoni in the biopic, ‘MS Dhoni: The Untold Story’.
