Tom Hanks lends voice as hot dog vendor at Oakland Athletics games

Oscar-winning actor Tom Hanks lent voice for selling hot dogs on concession to make Oakland Athletics players feel at home in an empty basketball park in MLB games. The team management revealed the actor’s voice will be played in order to make it sound as if people are in the stands since spectators are not allowed to watch MLB games in basketball parks due to the COVID-19 pandemic as the season delayed will begin on Friday.

The actor’s multiple audios will be played during the game which will include, “Hot dogs here! Colossal hot dogs!”. In another audio, you ll heard him saying: “Not a ballgame without a hot dog! Who wants a hot dog?” NBC’s Today show reported, a similar voice of Hanks’ who sold peanuts at A’s games growing up, will also be heard selling programs, peanuts, drinks, scorecards.

The Oakland A’s (Oakland Athletics) is an MLB baseball team in Oakland, California, which is going to participate in the American League West division. There will be a home game played in the Oakland Coliseum. This year fans are not going to experience MLB games in the stadium due to Coronavirus pandemic, so there are some creative measures taken by the team in order to replicate the big league experience. The Fox Sports has planned fill stadium with virtual fans during its broadcast. The seats will be filled with cardboard cutouts of fan and there will be also crowd noise during the games in order to keep the feeling alive.

Tom Hanks also appeared in the baseball movie A League Of Their Own, which also starred Jimmy Dugan. As reported by Sydney Morning Herald, Hanks, said the production team is tentatively planning to make this film in the month of October, but the dates are still uncertain. Hanks said in a Zoom call, “Everybody associated with the movie is completely involved to find out a way to make it happen.”
