Vijay Sethupathi’s critically acclaimed suspense thriller Maharaja, which has been a commercial sensation in Indian cinemas is all set to hit the Chinese theatres. The film has been one of the top-rated films on OTT in 2024 and will become the first Indian film to release in theaters of China.

This development comes after Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chinese President Xi Jinping’s meeting in Kazan in Russia on the sidelines of the BRICS summit on October 23. The two endorsed the agreement and issued directions to normalise ties that were hit by the deadly military clash at Galwan Valley in 2020.

Maharaja Stars Vijay Sethupathi And Anurag Kashyap In Key Roles

The Tamil-language film, directed by Nithilan Swaminathan, stars Vijay Sethupathi and Anurag Kashyap in pivotal roles. Furthermore it is supported by Mamta Mohandas and Natty Natraj.
