Jyoti Amge: The recipient of Guinness World record in the category of the world’s smallest living woman, seeks doctor to help her with a serious medical issue. Jyoti Amge, the Indian actress, social worker, is now the focus of TLC special called Extraordinary People, which aims to celebrate “several truly extraordinary people who have persevered despite great adversity.”

Jyoti Amge might be short but she lives larger-than-life. Beating all the odds, Jyoti survived and is now living her best life. Right from travelling to different countries to acting. Having a smile on the face doesn’t mean that everything is going great. Talking the one big problem that Jyoti faces in her everyday life is having trouble walking.

Currently, Jyoti is focused on her health issues. one thing on her mind at the moment is to get her leg checked. While the doctors suggested Jyoti would need surgery, she feared that her height might put her life at risk. After a lot of thinking, Jyoti agreed to look at her options and decided to get the best consultation if there was a need for her to undergo surgery. ‘Extraordinary People’ airs on Thursdays at 10 pm ET on TLC.

Jyoti featured in one of the most popular shows on American TV, and she’s racked up a pretty substantial social media following as well. The best way to not look like a baby is to dress like an adult,” Jyoti says on the show. “It’s hard when you can only shop in the infant section — All these clothes are made for little kids, but I’m not a baby.”

Amge has a form of dwarfism called Achondroplasia, which is a genetic disorder where a person’s torso is generally of average size but his or her arms and legs are shortened. Other symptoms include an enlarged head and a prominent forehead. According to the United States National Library of Medicine, the average height for a woman with achondroplasia is four feet, one inch.

In the special, Amge and her family visit the U.S. from India to explore career opportunities and soak up American culture, from bowling to shopping to eating pizza. “I have fame, I have friends, but because of my legs, I can’t live my life to the fullest. I just want my life to get better,” Amge said in a previous trailer.

Amge is from Nagpur, India, and was previously declared by Guinness to be the world’s shortest woman.
