Naked Football: Nudity in art is very common but it becomes unpremeditated if shown in a sports arena. Two football teams in the town of Oer-Erkenschwick in North Rhine-Westphalia played a game on Sunday completely naked to gather money against football. The game was organized by the artist Gerrit Starczewski at the Stimberg Stadium on the northern edge of Germany’s industrial Ruhr area. “The football system is sick, that’s why we all get naked,” the 34-year-old artist said.

“Everybody wants to have authenticity. But I think you are only particularly authentic if you do without all the other stuff, really everything, from the advertising banners to the clothing,” Starczewski told sports magazine 11Freunde ahead of the match. An artist somehow also feels that money has brought artificiality in the sports and this became a reason to organise this match.

The main objective of this match was to create a spectacle. He further told sports magazine “Everybody wants to have authenticity. But I think you are only particularly authentic if you do without all the other stuff, really everything, from the advertising banners to the clothing.”

The match was played in the Stimberg Stadium and both the teams only wore boots and socks as a garment. It can be depicted from the colour of the socks Bue by one team and black of another team) that player is playing for which team. Moreover, the jersey number on their back was painted by hand on their skin.

Allegations of Corruption and Bribery came into limelight in relation to the awarding and hosting rights to higher authorities of the FIFA Cup which is supposed to be organised in Qatar (FIFA CUP 2022). Prosecutors in Switzerland are already conducting an investigation into these charges.

But Starczewski’s raised his voice and said “With my nude actions, I also want to set an example for diversity and naturalness and against the dependence and influence of social media and false ideals of beauty… Everything has to be perfect there too, and in the end, it’s all about commercialization,” the artist concluded.
