Joe Biden appears to be calm and a goodwill ambassador who can rescue America from the shackles of evil, but his past depicts him being a harsher hurricane and least cares for the ‘American Dream’ of the promised land of equality and freedom.

Joe Biden is not the political saint he claims to be.

When former US president, Barack Obama conferred the ‘Presidential Medal of Freedom’ in a surprise move on his most trusted man – the then vice president, Joe Biden, a humbled and surprised Joe was all in tears and what followed at the gathering was the crowd unanimously giving him the most adorable standing ovation.

That is Joe Biden, with a saintly image contesting the 2020 US presidential election against president Donald Trump and is leading in every opinion polls which paints a picture of him likely to unseat the president and deny him a chance of a second term.

Yet, the recent developments have simply emerged as potential challengers to his aspiration. An exclusive bombshell report by the New York Post alleging Joe Biden’s son, Hunter Biden’s business relations with the Ukranian energy company, Burisma.

The story is based on a number of emails and photos retrieved from a laptop which Hunter had reportedly left for repair at a computer shop in Delaware. The allegation is yet to be investigated for its authenticity of the source of the report.

However, the flipside has been the role of social media with Facebook and Twitter, both flagging the link to the content sets an impending question of freedom of expression.

Neither have the mainstream media acted precisely to launch an unbiased investigation into it and report the truth. However the media are seen united in being silent or (silencing others) over the matter except for a notable journalist, Glenn Greenwald, the editor of Intercept Founding, has accused the mainstream media of “blatant rank closing cone of silence” over the New York Post report on the dealings of Hunter Biden’s alleged overseas dealing.

He tweeted stating, “They so far just establish standard sleaze and DC {sic} corruption. The huge scandal to me is the blatant rank closing and cone of silence – a prohibition erected *by journalists* around this story to defend Biden”.

Greenwald’s tweet raise serious question of the media’s role in playing an important role during an ongoing phase of a national election of the world’s most influential country. Adding more depth to this is Biden himself.

When confronted by a reporter who, after two days finally questioned him on the New York Post report of his son, Hunter’s alleged overseas dealing, Biden furiously retorted stating, “I know, you would ask it. I have no response. Its another smear campaign, right up your alley, those are the questions you always ask”.

Is this a real cover up or are the reports genuine? We are yet to know the reality. However, if one is yet to believe, there is something spooky smelling in the air and Biden’s political past must have some answers.

Joe Biden Is Not The Saint He Portrays Himself To Be

Biden’s long political career tells a tale of its own. While a humbled Joe was the recipient of the highest honour – The Presidential Medal of Freedom, his past tells us a different story. He is no political saint to be ordained in the name of purity.

Our story begins here. During his first year at the Syracuse University College of Law, Biden was accused of plagiarizing 5 of 15 pages of a law review article. He had later admitted to it and said “It was inadvertent and he did not know the proper rules of citation”. This incident surfaced when he ran for president for the first time in 1987.

In the 1970s, Biden was one among the strong opponent of ‘race integration busing’. He was against integrating children from separate neighbourhood in his constituency of Delaware. Following this, he was met with opposition from Delaware residents. His anti busing and anti desegregation policies had met with severe criticism.

Further in one of his speech in 1993, his disdain for African Americans was at his heights. He said “We should focus on them now, not out of a liberal instinct for love, brotherhood and humanity. Although I think that is a good instinct but for simple reasons. If we don’t, they will or a portion of them will become predators, 15 years from now. Madam president, we have predators on our streets”.

He had called African Americans “predators” which cannot be overshadowed while he worked under Barack Obama, the first ever African American to become the president of the United States.

While he accuses Donald Trump being a racist, his own past is evident of what his stance on the people of colour has been. It kept haunting him until the recent past before he and senator Kamala Harris were at loggerheads in the second democratic debate. Senator Harris asked “Do you agree today that you were wrong to oppose busing in America”.

While his son Hunter Biden is also being accused of having dealings with businesses with China, there has been a growing concern over Biden taking a ‘soft approach’ on China amidst the ongoing tensions between the United States and China, especially after the outbreak of COVID-19.
