The Prime Minister also laid the foundation stone for the Rayagada Railway Division Building of East Coast Railway in Odisha. This division will further strengthen Odisha’s railway infrastructure and boost tourism and employment, especially in South Odisha.
Additionally, Shri Modi inaugurated the Charlapalli New Terminal Station in Telangana. The new terminal, equipped with modern amenities, will enhance regional development and ease travel congestion. It will connect seamlessly to the Outer Ring Road, providing significant convenience for commuters.
Bharat’s Rapid Connectivity Growth
In his address, Prime Minister Modi highlighted India’s progress in expanding connectivity. He noted that India’s metro rail network has now crossed 1000 kilometers in 2025. He also pointed out the recent launch of the Namo Bharat train and new Delhi Metro projects, underscoring the government’s commitment to modernizing India’s infrastructure.

Educational Advancements In Railway Sector
In line with the growing demand for railway expertise, the Prime Minister highlighted the establishment of India’s first Gati-Shakti University. PM Modi also spoke about the significant railway infrastructure developments in Jammu and Kashmir, particularly the Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla rail line. The completion of the Chenab Bridge, the world’s highest railway arch bridge, will be a landmark achievement, connecting Jammu and Kashmir to the rest of India. He also praised the Anji Khad Bridge, India’s first cable-based railway bridge, as a marvel of engineering that will drive regional economic growth.

Odisha, with its rich natural resources and large coastline, is seeing several railway projects worth over ₹70,000 crore. The development of Gati Shakti cargo terminals is boosting trade and industry. The new Rayagada Railway Division will further elevate the region’s railway infrastructure, benefiting local businesses and the tribal communities of South Odisha.
Sustainable Infrastructure In Telangana
The Charlapalli New Terminal Station in Telangana exemplifies the government’s focus on sustainable infrastructure. The station operates on solar power, featuring lifts, escalators, and modern platforms. It will ease the burden on existing stations in Secunderabad, Hyderabad, and Kachiguda, enhancing passenger convenience.
Prime Minister Modi stressed that these railway initiatives align with India’s broader infrastructure expansion, including expressways, metro services, and airports. The number of airports has increased from 74 in 2014 to over 150, and metro services have expanded to 21 cities. These projects, he said, are part of a national vision for a developed India.
