Erick Morillo, The DJ Sensation, Found Dead In Miami Beach

Erick Morillo, the renowned musician, found dead on Tuesday, few days before his appearance in court.

Erick Morillo, the internationally recognised DJ best known for the track ‘I Like To Move It’, has been found dead in Miami beach on Tuesday. Morillo died just before he was scheduled to appear in court on sexual charges. His death comes within a month after his arrest for sexually assaulting a female DJ after working on a gig together.

Reportedly, the police officials confessed that they received a 911 call. Further said that the investigation is on the preliminary stages. Morillo initially denied the sexual assault charges pinned against him, but the tables turned when a rape kit identified him as the suspect. He was being alleged that Morillo made several advances towards her, some sexual in nature, but she refused all of his attempts.

She told police that after becoming intoxicated, she founded herself in in Morillo’s home to sleep in alone. Later she reported that she woke up nude on the bed, with Mr. Morillo ”standing on the side of the bed also nude”.

Morillo was born in New York, later moved to Colombia and spent few years of his childhood. He then returned to the US, where he began his career. I Like to Move It was his international hit and came in other media, most notably the Madagascar animated film franchise. Morillo was the recipient of best international DJ award in 2002, 2006, and 2009. Besides this, he was three-time winner of the best house DJ prize at the DJ Awards.

His death shocked many. There are mysteries that needed to be solved. Social media is flooded with his mourning. Following his death, Jersey Shore star DJ Pauly D paid tribute on social media. He on his Twitter handle tweeted ”Sad News 🙁 A True Legend. Erick Morillo RIP.”

Apart from this, Musician Yousef expressed his grief and was taken aback. From his tweet it can be ascertained that he still couldn’t believe it. He said that he spoke to him last week only and he was troubled, less than perfect but was always amazing to him and helped everyone get [record label] circus going in the early days. He further said that they had many amazing times over the 20 years when they were friends. ”Genuinely gutted. RIP @ErickMorillo.”
