The live Verzuz battle from Tyler Perry Studios is finally happening after mass demand from fans. Atlanta’s R&B artist Monica is going up against Brandy, who is known as “The vocal Bible” in the live Verzuz battle. Fans have been demanding a Verzuz battle between the two since the first battle earlier this year. The battle announcement has led to celebration among fans.
The official Verzuz page have twitted yesterday “Get ready for the queens! @4everBrandy and @MonicaDenise on #VERZUZ! Monday, August 31st, 8PM EST on our IG and Apple Music. Drinks by @ciroc.”
After the success of Erykah Badu and Jill Scott’s battle Brandy was asked for a new one. However according to Brandy, Monica was not interested in a Verzuz and almost turned it down. The two singers have been rumored to have been feuding to varying degrees since they recorded The Boy Is Mine in 1998.

After the battle announcement Monica declared that her whole career has been put against someone she is not even remotely similar to. She also said that she and Brandy are polar opposites, and that makes it dope. However, Monica also said that she will only be interested in the battle if it’s a celebration. She says that the Verzuz is an incredible idea and that it is turning into a celebration among fans.
The two singers have posted on their social media pages celebrating the idea of the Verzuz battle. Brandy posted on Instagram “Thank you @MonicaDenise and @verzuzonline for making this happen. Let’s celebrate!!!!”
Monica showed same excitement when she posted on Instagram-“Celebrating these catalogs is for the culture with love! From Young Women to Adult Women we’ve been with y’all!” The most awaited battle will be viewable on official Verzuz Instagram page and Apple Music on August 31st at 8 p.m.
