Assam Govt. Announces Rs 50 Lakh Compensation, Govt. Jobs To Kin of Martyred Policemen

All police personnel injured in the Assam-Mizoram border clash will get Rs 1 lakh.

Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma has announced a compensation of Rs. 50 lakh to kin of policemen, who were killed in the recent clash at the Assam-Mizoram border.

“We will pay ₹50 lakh to kin of policemen killed, give govt job to one family member, pay ₹1 lakh to the injured & additional one-month salary to policemen deployed along Mizoram border. We will also deploy 4,000 commandos & move SC to protect reserved forests along the border,” CM Sarma tweeted.

As many as 5 policemen were killed and 50 were injured in violent clashes due to the age-old boundary dispute between Assam and Mizoram.

Taking to his official Twitter handle, Sarma wrote, “I am sad to inform that Shyamprasad Dusat of 6th AP Bn has succumbed to his abdominal bullet injury at SMCH. He couldn’t be operated or moved to Guwahati because of his worsening condition.”

The Chief Minister of Assam also paid tributes to those who have lost their lives in the Assam-Mizoram border clash. “I salute the brave martyr and bow in reverence. My heartfelt condolences to the family,” Sarma tweeted.
