Himanta Biswa Sarma to take oath as Chief Minister of Assam tomorrow

While people in Assam waited to know who will be the next Chief Minister of Assam, the suspense over the CM chair is finally over.

Himanta Biswa Sarma has won the chair of Assam chief minister and is going to be sworn in as the 15th Chief Minister of the state tomorrow, May 10, 2021.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) decided on Sunday after a legislative party meeting at Guwahati, Assam.

HBS CM Oath Ceremony: Time and Place

The oath ceremony of Assam’s new CM Himanta Biswa Sarma has been scheduled for Monday, at the Srimanta Sankardeva Kalakshetra, Guwahati at 10:30 AM, according to BJP Assam Pradesh.

HBS is also popularly called ‘Mama’ in Assam after a video of him went viral on the internet a few months ago ahead of the Assembly Elections.

Himanta Biswa Sarma is one of the most influential politicians in Northeast India. He is also the convenor of the NEDA (North-East Democratic Alliance), which is a BJP led alliance of the regional parties in the Northeast.

Himanta Biswa Sarma Personal Details

Himanta Biswa Sarma, who was born in Guwahati started his political journey during his college days.

He served as the General Secretary (GS) of Cotton College Student’s Union with effect from the year 1991 until 1992.

He studied political science at then Cotton College turned Cotton University in his birthplace Guwahati.
