Coronavirus: AIIMS to begin largest human trial of the vaccine, to conduct tests on more than hundred volunteers

AIIMS is hopeful the Coronavirus vaccine would be a success.

All India institute of Medical science, Delhi is going to conduct the largest human trial of Coronavirus vaccine from Monday which is developed by the Indian medical agencies. It is reported that AIMS is seeking permission from the centre to conduct the trial of the developed vaccine.

The vaccine is developed with the collaboration of Bharat biotech and ICMR. This test will be conducted upon hundred volunteers. As per reports, human trial on 375 volunteers will be done by Bharat biotech.

The trial will be conducted in three phases and the first phase will begin from Monday. Initially, the vaccine has been given to 10 volunteers at Patna AIIMS and no side effects has been found in any of the volunteers.

Further, a total number of 12 medical institutes of the country will be participating in human trials of Coronavirus vaccine including AIIMS. Anil Vij Haryana Health Minister tweeted,”Human trials with Coronavirus vaccine (COVAXIN) of Bharat biotech started at PGI Rohtak today. Three volunteers were enrolled today. All have tolerated the vaccine very well and there were no adverse effects”.

This was a highly encouraging development for the Indian scientists and Medical researchers. On the footprints of Patna AIIMS, now PGI hospital, Rohtak had given Coronavirus vaccine to 3 volunteers and the results turned positive.

However, 38,902 new cases were reported in India in the last 24 hours with 534 new deaths. 23,672 patients were recovered in a single day. India’s Coronavirus count has crossed the 1 million mark painting a bleak picture ahead but the country is hopeful for a vaccine to be found soon.
