Gangster turned politician Vikas Dubey was killed by the police in an encounter in Uttar Pradesh. His wife, son and housemaid have been arrested.

Gangster Vikas Dubey, a rowdy-sheeter turned politician, was born in Bikari, Uttar Pradesh. He is also known as Vikas pandit and has over 60 criminal cases of murder, robbery, kidnapping, illegal land acquisition, criminal intimidation among others.

Dubey who was a most wanted criminal, was gunned down today in an encounter after he reportedly tried to flee when a car in the special task force (STF) convoy was taking him from Ujjain to Uttar Pradesh overturned in Kanpur. The encounter took place at Sachendi border, Kanpur.

When the car overturned, Dubey snatched a pistol from the police and tried to flee and the police shot him dead. Later, he was taken to Hallet Hospital around 7 am where he was declared brought dead by the doctors.

On July 9, Dubey was arrested from Mahakal Temple of Ujjain while trying to hide his identity by the name of Shubham. Police was after him since six days after he killed eight policeman, including a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) while 7 police personnel were left injured.

The autopsy report revealed that DSP was brutally murdered, while others had multiple fire wounds from different weapons, suggesting ambush. After his arrest from Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan twitted, “Those who feel that after going to the Mahakal Temple, their sins will be wiped out, they do not know about the Mahakal. Our government will not spare any criminals.”

BSP leader Mayawati has demanded a Supreme Court-monitored probe into Vikas Dubey’s accident and encounter today morning. Akhilesh Yadav raises doubts and during an interview with a leading channel said,”Dube has direct links with Bhartiya Janata Party”. He also said, that the “UP Government saved its secrets.”

Congress Raises Questions On Who Was Helping Don Dubey

The Congress party raised doubts on Dubey’s death by questioning ”How did Dubey reach Ujjain?” and ”How did only one vehicle overturn?”

J&K leader Omar Abdullah said, “Dead man tell no tales”, hinting at the allegations of a nexus between Dubey and the powerful politicians. Many people are rising the same question that are left unanswered with the death of the gangster. The opposition party also claims that Dubey’s encounter was an attempt to bury his nexus deals.

Raising questions on the encounter of Vikas Dubey, former Union Minister and senior Congress leader Jitin Prasad tweeted, “With the end of Vikas Dubey in custody the government has ensured that the trail which would have exposed his nexus with people in positions of power who allowed criminals like him to flourish, has ended too.”

Madhya Pradesh home minister Narottam Mishra said, “Law has taken it’s course,” while Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi said, “The criminal is dead, but what about those who aided the criminal?”

As per the reports, Richa Dubey wife of Vikas Dubey was also arrested yesterday from her Krishna Nagar residence by a team of Special Task Force (STF) and along with Richa Dubey, the couples son and their servant were also nabbed and arrested in the charge of harbouring the gangster.

Richa had gone missing immediately after the Kanpur ambush. It is suspected that she is allegedly a part of the conspiracy that led to the killing of 8 policeman at Kanpur’s Bikru village on July 3.

Reports say, “Seven bombs have been found at the Panchayat Bhawan in Bikru village during a police search that has been continuing almost on a daily basis after the July 3 massacre in which eight policemen were killed. The bombs are crude and of low intensity. Some of the bombs were found from the house of Vikas Dubey’s driver Daya Shankar Agnihotri who is now in police custody.”
