PM Imran Khan: Pakistan to release IAF pilot Abhinandan Varthaman tomorrow as peace gesture

Indian Air Force wing commander Abhinandan Varthaman will be released tomorrow, said PM Imran Khan. Varthaman will return to India at 12 PM via Wagah border.

Welcome Back Abhinandan Varthaman: Indian Air Force (IAF) pilot Abhinandan Varthaman, who was captured by Pakistan on Wednesday will be released tomorrow. According to reports, Abhinandan Varthaman will be returning to India at 12 PM via Wagah border. Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan on Thursday held a joint Parliament session to discuss the rising tension between India and Pakistan. where a decision to release Indian Air Force pilot Abinandan Varthaman was taken in order to restore peace with India. The PM offered to have a discussion with India, however, the response was not pleasant. Imran Khan said India should have sent a dossier on the recent Pulwama attack where 40 CRPF personnel lost their lives, and said that he regrets military escalations with India. The country had already offered to investigate the worst-ever Pulwama suicide bombing attack in Jammu and Kashmir on February 14.

Meanwhile, the government has reacted to Pakistan’s move to release the brave Indian wing commander Abinandan Varthaman. It said that the the pilot was not an aggressor and there was no reason to hold him captive. PM Imran Khan also, said that escalating tensions would not serve the interests of India or Pakistan. He tried to converse with India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi over telephone to bring down the ongoing tensions between the two countries, which had started due to the Pulwama attack.

Moreover, after Pakistan assured the release of the pilot, Ministry of Defence has postponed the briefing to be held at 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM today, February 28, 2019. Also, the venue of the briefing has changed from inside the building premises to the lawns of the Ministry of Defence, according to reports on a leading daily.
