Karnataka Bank Heist, Rs 10-12 Crore Looted
A daring robbery took place at Sahakari Sangh Bank in Kotekar, Mangaluru, Karnataka on Friday. A gang of masked men, armed with pistols, swords, and knives, executed the heist in broad daylight. The incident occurred between 11.30 am and 12.30 pm, leaving the authorities in shock.
According to the police, five to six men, aged between 25 and 35, entered the bank during its peak working hours. The robbers threatened the bank staff, forcing them to open the vault. Speaking in Hindi, they demanded access to the gold jewellery and other valuables stored inside. At the time of the robbery, there were four to five employees present inside the bank.
Initial estimates suggest that the valuables looted in the robbery are worth between Rs 10 crore and Rs 12 crore. However, a detailed inventory is still underway, and the exact value of the stolen goods will be confirmed later. The robbers managed to flee the scene with a substantial amount of wealth, leaving the staff and customers in fear.
After the robbery, the suspects quickly made their escape in a blue Fiat car. The police have already started their investigation and are using all available resources, including technical surveillance, to track down the robbers.
A large-scale investigation has been launched to apprehend the culprits. Police have formed multiple teams to gather information and chase any leads. Police are focusing more on collecting surveillance footage from the area and analyzing possible clues that could help in identifying the suspects.
The robbery came to the attention of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, who was in Mangaluru at the time. In response to the incident, he convened an urgent meeting with top police officials. Present at the meeting were Inspector General of the Western Range Amit Singh, Mangaluru Police Commissioner Anupam Agarwal, and Superintendent of Police N Yathish. Speaker U T Khader also attended the meeting to review the situation and ensure the investigation progresses swiftly.
The police are working round the clock to solve the case and bring the culprits to justice. The involvement of armed robbers and the scale of the heist has heightened the urgency of the probe. The police have assured the public that they will leave no stone unturned in their efforts to capture the suspects.
