Kerala Rape Case: A junior health inspector was arrested in Kerala’s Thiruvananthapuram district Monday on the charge of raping a woman who went to his residence for obtaining a COVID-19 Negative certificate after completion of home quarantine for 14 days.

As per the reports of the leading website, Police said the woman, who works as a domestic help in another district, has alleged that she was brutally assaulted by Kumar at his apartment. The woman said to police, “she went to the apartment in the afternoon of September 3 and Kumar kept her tied up there till the next morning and also threatened to tell police that she had violated quarantine norms”.

The woman, who stayed in quarantine after reaching her home district, wanted a no-COVID certificate as her employer insisted to get the same for it. The junior health inspector was posted in the panchayat area she lived in. Registering a suo motu case, the state women’s commission has sought a report from the district police chief.

This comes close on the heels of the incident in which an ambulance driver allegedly raped a COVID-19 patient in Kerala’s Pathanamthitta district while taking her to hospital. Currently, 22133 cases are active in Kerala and 2246 fresh cases were registered in the last 24 hours whereas, 12 people lost their lives due to Coronavirus.
