Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday asked the youth to be flexible and adaptable to the changing nature of jobs.

Emphasising on the importance of ‘skilling, re-skilling and upskilling’ in the present day of the killing of the National Education Policy which was unveiled by his Government, recently paid attention to this aspect. This statement was delivered at the University of Mysore’s Centenary Convocation address virtually.

Modi ensured a multi-dimensional approach towards education and it will ring about the fundamental changes in the field of education so that youth can become even more competitive.

University of Mysore’s plans to start multi-disciplinary programmes as envisaged under NEP,

The Prime Minister said, “Students can simultaneously examine the ‘global technology’ and ‘local culture’ under these programmes.

Global technology is the main aspect which the government wants to promote in the local business.

Incumbent upon the University of Mysore, best educational institutions in India, to innovate.

Another factor which is also important to highlight is the incubation centres and development centres.

The University incubation and technology development centres, besides ensuring the industry-academy linkage while focussing more on the inter-disciplinary research.

Local culture

Prime Minister said, “The University is also expected to promote local culture, local art and enhance its tradition on research on social issues. Apart from this, it was made along with the contemporary and global issues

Primarily focussing on the student community to enhance their excellence based on individual strength and ability.

Modi said, “There was no need for them to restrict themselves who’re ‘fit into the box’.

He also pointed out that the box in which they try to fit into a box, may possible they are not fit for it.

“It’s a time to take out for yourself, introspect, understand your strength. This will allow your future path. India is a land of opportunities.”

Start-ups

During the COVID-19 pandemic, the start-ups  are the strengths of the country.  PM Modi said, “Your progress is also the country’s progress. If you become atmanirbhar (self-reliant), the country will also become atmanirbhar.”
