Supreme Court Allows Ranveer Allahbadia to Resume Podcast with Conditions
On Monday, the Supreme Court gave YouTuber Ranveer Allahbadia the green light to resume uploading his podcasts and shows on social media. However, the court imposed specific conditions to ensure his content aligns with acceptable standards. Allahbadia must submit an undertaking to ensure that his podcast, The Ranveer Show.
The court had previously restrained Allahbadia from airing his podcast following a controversy over his inappropriate remarks on comedian Samay Raina’s YouTube show. These remarks led to public outcry and multiple FIRs being filed against him.
Allahbadia’s podcast has been a significant part of his career, serving as his primary source of income. The bench, led by Justices Surya Kant and N Kotiswar Singh, noted that the podcast supports not just Allahbadia but also around 280 people who are employed by him. This context played a role in the court’s decision to lift the ban, albeit with certain safeguards.

In addition to allowing Allahbadia to resume his podcast, the court extended the interim protection from arrest. This protection remains in place until further orders. Allahbadia was also directed to cooperate with the investigation in Guwahati related to the controversial remarks he made.
