Well, a Zambi TV anchor of the KBN TV news channel in the middle of the new bulletin spoke that he and his colleagues had not been paid by the channel. Yes, you heard that right. Presenter Kabinda Kalimina on Saturday evening, accused the channel of withholding staff wages.

The video which has been shared on Facebook started on a mundane note with Kabina Kalimina reading the news. In the middle of the bulletin, he made an unexpected accusation on air.

He said that away from the news, ladies and gentleman, we are human beings. We have to get paid. Unfortunately, on KBN we haven’t been paid. Sharon and everyone else haven’t been paid, including himself. We have to get paid.

The video of the incident has been viewed thousands of times on Facebook. After seeing the video, many pople were quick to give their opinions. Many supported the argument of KBN TV staff that they should be paid off TV staff and demanded that they be paid their wages.

However, denying the statement of withholding staff salaries, KBN TV accused the news anchor of being drunk and claimed that his behaviour was despicable.

In a statement issued by the KBN TV’s chief executive Kennedy Mambwe, he said on Facebook that as KBN TV, they are appalled with the drunken behaviour exhibited through a video clip that has gone viral on social media and staged by one of their part-time presenters during what should have been the main news bulletin.

The statement continued that KBN TV like any other institution has very well-established grievance procedures for all members of staff through which they can channel their complaints.

Therefore, last night’s behaviour by Kabinda Kalimina is out of character and thus, does not represent the image of the station. They strongly condemn that despicable behaviour and urge members of the public to treat that ‘One-Night stunt of Fame’ with the contempt it deserves.
