Mizoram Governor felicitates daily wager’s daughter who secured 8th rank in class 12 exams

Government Hrangbana College has offered the student free admission in recognition of her achievement.

A daily wager’s daughter, who secured 8th rank in class 12 board exams in Mizoram, was congratulated by Governor PS Sreedharan Pillai for her accomplishment despite all odds.

Giving over a reference to 17-year-old Lalvenhimi in the presence of her parents at Raj Bhavan on Friday, the governor said the girl’s achievement has become a source of inspiration for students across the country.

The Governor tweeted, ”Her parents are daily wage-earners, and they live in a small hut. Besides taking care of her younger siblings, she also does the household works. Even in the face of such difficult conditions, she has succeeded. Hon’ble Governor presented her a congratulatory letter and a cash incentive, for being an inspiration to many.”

The 17-year-old, who dreams of becoming a college teacher, will study Bachelor of Arts at the Government Hrangbana College, which has offered her free admission in recognition of her achievement.

The student of Durtlang Higher Secondary School in Aizawl scored 437 out of 500 imprints in Arts stream in the examinations led by the Mizoram Board of School Education (MBSE). The results were declared on July 13, 2020.

“I used to get up at 3 am each day and study till 7 am, and again from 6 pm to 10 pm. Plus, I used to perform household chores and look after my siblings when my parents were away,” Lalvenhimi said.
