Tripura’s  Maharaja Bir Bikram (MBB) Airport has resumed its first domestic flight service on May 29 after a long gap of two-months due to the Coronavirus lockdown crisis. Its first domestic flight with Indigo Airlines Flight from Kolkata to Agartala is now operational. Passengers who wish to travel through this route can start booking the online tickets.

According to reports, the flight services at other airports in the country started resuming from May 25, after the government released the orders, however, Agartala Airport had to stop the operations of any flight due to the damages caused by another natural calamity, Cyclone Amphan at the Kolkata’s Netaji Subash Chandra International Airport.

VK Seth, the director of Airport Director said that the airport authorities have ensured medical arrangements for screening all the incoming and outgoing passengers.  The director also said that sanitization, disinfection, and cleaning is being done across the airport premises round the clock, as precautionary measures, according to reports by TNT.

The Ministry of Civil Aviation has approved for six flights from -Agartala-Kolkata, Guwahati-Agartala-Kolkata and Banglore-Kolkata-Agartala routes at the MBB Airport.
