Doctor brutally beaten in Nagaon hospital

A doctor in Assam has been brutally beaten by a group of people after a patient died in Odali Model Hospital at Nagaon. The doctor, who has been identified as Seuj Kumar Senapati suffered injuries from the attack and was later taken to the emergency treatment facility of a Nagaon hospital.

Narrating the horrific incident, the doctor said, “I was on COVID-19 duty at the Odali Model Hospital today from 1:30 PM. I was told by an assistant that a patient, who has been admitted today did not urinate since yesterday. So I was getting ready with the COVID precautionary items to check on him. When I went near his bed, he had already died. The patient’s attendants then started beating up the doctors and the staff members. They attacked me with whatever items they got.”

Meanwhile, the incident took place at around 2:00 PM. Another doctor from the same hospital said, “Very sad incident. Amid the grave situation of COVID, we have been working round the clock and rendering our services to sick people. We have left our family for treating those in need and we are being treated this way. We want security from the government and unless the health minister takes control over the situation, we will not risk our lives.”
