Who is Agatha Sangma?

Agatha Sangama is an MP from was brought up in West Garo Hills, Meghalaya. Her brother Conrad Sangma is the Chief Minister who was elected in the Meghalaya state assembly and her father late P.A Sangma was the former speaker of the Lok sabha.

Agatha Sangma the youngest MP

Agatha Sangma or Agatha Kongal Sangma is the youngest member parliament in the 17th Lok Sabha and state minister in the Union Cabinet. She was born on 24th July 1980. The young talented 40-year-old MP has completed her LLB degree from Pune University and later she went to the United Kingdom to get her masters degree in environmental management from the University of Nottingham. Later, she joined the bar in Delhi High court.

Agatha Sangma is a lawyer, environmentalist. She stepped into politics when her father P.A Sangama resigned from the seat to join state politics in 2008. In May 2008, she was first elected for the 14th Lok sabha in bye-election and later she was re-elected as 15th Lok sabha as a youngest Indian parliament when her age was 29.

In 2018, she contested Meghalaya legislative assembly election from National People’s party. From her South Tura constituency, she won by 6499 votes but she later resigned from her constituency as a member of the house in order to herald her brother to contest the by-poll elections.
