Apple released new guidelines for its security feature for the MacBook.

A new Security Feature helps in preventing your Apple MacBook screen. An advisory has been given by Apple which suggests that MacBook users to not close the lid of their computing devices with an attached camera cover. This can prevent your screen’s display.

Ignoring your screen’s display might create a problem as it damages the display, as well as your MacBook hardware gets weak by getting a crack screen, which would eventually hurt a users eyes.

To be secure, Apple has a built-in security feature on all MacBook devices that notify you when your machine’s front camera is in use and appears by the device itself through an indication of Green notification Light.

New generation laptops are designed slimmer and more compact for their portability, and due to this the gap between keyboard and screen is already reduced, hence Apple released the guidelines to its users.

As the camera cover is thicker, it takes more space and by pressing it against your device display, might lead to screen damage and crack screen. Privacy is a concern as apps access the laptop’s camera which might work as a spy, third party camera covers are selling humongously on online websites.

Apple also states that the ambient light sensor near the camera allows automatic brightness to work. However, the camera will not function well if covered by a camera cover.

Apple has an built-in feature that allows green light against the camera to indicate which apps are using its camera with or without the owners permission. Incidentally, most Windows 10 Laptops do not have such a feature.

You can manually set it by following these simple steps. go to Settings -> Security &Privacy ->Privacy Tab ->Camera on your MacBook to enable or disable access to apps or access to the camera. Apple-designed its Facetime HD Camera according to your privacy issue.

If you still want to use a camera cover, Apple suggests it should not be thicker than 0.1mm of measurement, an average of printed piece of paper.
