US Man Finds Shiny Glass Object, Turns Out To Be 9.07 Carat Diamond

Kevin Kinard was just strolling in the Diamond Crater Park in Arkansas and picked up the biggest diamond discovered in 48 years.

A US man went out with his friends in a diamond park and picked up a shiny object which he stumbled upon. Hours later, he had the shock of his life. It turned out to be a 9.07 Carat diamond.

Kevin Kinard, a bank manager from Maumelle was at the state park in south western Arkansas on labour day shifting equipment in the state park along with his friends.

He said that ‘he only wet sifted for about 10 minutes before walking up down the plowed rows and anything that looked like a crystal, he would put it in his bag’.

While he was walking by, Kinard stumbled upon a shiny object that looked like a glass. He said ‘it looked shiny and he put it in his bag’. He then stopped by the Diamond Discovery Centre where visitors picks are reviewed and identified.

A worker told Kinard that he had discovered a diamond. Kinard was shocked to learn that he had discovered a 9.07 carat diamond which was the biggest discovery in the park in 48 years.

He initially was hesitant to get his bag checked as he was not too sure of having discovered anything precious, however after one of his friends got her bag checked, he got the picks checked too and was shocked to learn that the shiny glassy stone he picked up turned out to be a piece of diamond.

Kinard has been a regular visitor to the park since childhood but he never had stumbled across a diamond until his discovery early this month on September 7.

According to Dru Edmonds’ the conditions were ideal for Kinard to have the diamond discovery being ideal as the park staff had plowed the area in mid august before storm Laura had brought two inch rain and when kinard walked in , it was bright and sunny which helped him to discover his diamond’.

As many as 264 diamonds have been found in the park this year weighing a total of 59.25 carat and Kinard’s diamond has been the largest weighing about 9.07 carat.
