Class 12th exams canceled: The Government of India has decided to cancel the Class XII CBSE Board Exams, said Prime Minister Narendra Modi in a tweet. This decision has been taken after extensive consultations. The decision is student-friendly, one that safeguards the health as well as the future of our youth. In a statement released by the Prime Minister Office (PMO) of India, it’s mentioned that Class XII results will be made as per well-defined objective criteria in a time-bound manner.

Amid the COVID 19 pandemic, the health and safety of our students are of utmost importance and there would be no compromise on this aspect. Anxiety among students, parents, and teachers, must be put to an end. Students should not be forced to appear for exams in such a stressful situation. All stakeholders need to show sensitivity for students, the statement adds.

This decision has come after two days ahead of the Supreme Court hearing. The SC is expected to file its reply in a petition seeking. The hearing will take place on June 3 after the Centre requested time.

During a meeting held on May 23, the CBSE had suggested that that the exams will be held between July 15 and August 26.

It also recommended two options: The regular exams will take place in 19 major subjects at notified centres. The second option was to conduct the exams for shorter-duration exams at schools where the students are enrolled.

After the meeting, Union Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal said the options were favored by a majority of states. Pokhriyal on Tuesday was hospitalized at AIIMS hospital in Delhi due to post-Covid complications.

Following the decision, in an official order, CISCE also decided to cancel the ISC class 12 exams Year 2021 examination. The safety, health, and wellbeing of students, teaching faculty, and all stakeholders is the topmost priority and of paramount interest.

The official order adds that the results will be processed on a mechanism, that will also include internal examinations conducted by the schools. The schools will be informed in due course of time, of this mechanism.

In case some candidates are not satisfied with allotted marks, CISCE will provide criteria to appear for the exams at a later date when the situation improves.

Soon after this, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan canceled Madhya Pradesh Board Class 12 Examination. Gujarat government also canceled the Class 12 state board exam 2021.
