CLAT 2020: Exam Date Not Postponed, Admit Cards To Be Out Soon

CLAT 2020: Confusion caused by social media leads the students into chaos. The admit cards for the examination will be released soon on the Consortium's official website.

CLAT 2020: NALSAR Vice-Chancellor Dr Faizan Mustafa, when asked by a leading media organisation, said that the date for the entrance exam remains unchanged and a Circular which was shared over social media claiming that the exam date for CLAT 2020 is postponed, is fake. The consortium of National Law Universities has already warned the students for the fake notice regarding the postponement of CLAT 2020 exam and candidates must follow the notifications released on the official websites only.

It is a “centre-based computer-based online test” and will be held on 7th September between 2 pm to 4 pm. When the news got viral, aspirants reached out to the Consortium of National Law Universities, seeking clarification about the same. Due to the pandemic, there is a major setback in the exam date. Earlier, this exam was conducted in May which is now pushed ahead in September in order to ensure the safety and well-being of the students.

Further, it was informed that the Consortium was in the process of securing permissions so that Admit Cards as “Movement Passes” by local authorities to move candidates from containment zones and travel to their designated examination centres.

The examination conducting authority of Common Law Admission Test has announced certain modifications in the pattern in its press release on November 21, 2019. The UG-CLAT 2020 would focus on evaluating the comprehension and reasoning skills and abilities of candidates. Overall, it is designed to be a test of aptitude and skills that are necessary for legal education.

The test will be of 2 hours with 150 multiple-choice questions. There is a negative marking of 0.25 marks for each wrong answer. The test will cover the following five sections. These will include the English language, Current Affairs including General Knowledge, Legal Reasoning, Logical Reasoning, Quantitative techniques.

The Consortium will Publish preparatory material from there candidates can prepare for the test. I will include

  • Guides to the question paper and sample questions;
  • Model question papers; and
  • Instructional materials and exercises for each of the subjects that the UG-CLAT 2020 comprises.
  • In addition to it, candidates can prepare by keeping themselves updated in Current affairs, by reading a newspaper and by increasing their speed in answering the questions.
