Bryshere Gray of the Empire fame arrested for domestic violence against his wife.
Bryshere Gray, who played Hakeem Lyon in Empire, the brother of Jussie Smollett’s character on the Fox drama was arrested near Phoenix today after his wife told police he assaulted her for hours and choked her unconscious at their home on Sunday night.
Police responded to a 911 call around 10:15 pm Sunday night and revealed, “That an adult female victim had been allegedly assaulted at her Goodyear home by her husband, who she identified as Bryshere Gray, an actor on the TV series Empire and said the woman had flagged down a bystander at a local gas station and told the driver that she had been assaulted for several hours,” according to a press release by the Goodyear Police Department.

The woman was “treated and released for her non life-threatening injuries,” police said. Gray initially refused to come outside and speak to officers when they arrived at his home after responding to a 911 call regarding domestic violence incident.
Goodyear SWAT and Crisis Negotiations were called to the scene amid a standoff between the 26-year-old actor and police that didn’t end until shortly after 7 am. Gray now faces charges including assault, aggravated assault and disorderly conduct.
