The word ‘photography’ has its roots from two Greek words created from the Greek roots φωτός (phōtos), genitive of φῶς (phōs), anglicized ‘photo’ meaning ‘light’ and γραφή (graphé) ” or simply to translate as ‘graph’ meaning drawing representation with lines together meaning ‘drawing with light’”.
So, a photograph is captured through an optical sensor which reproduce a digital representation of what the sensor is exposed to in a digital camera whereas earlier the same process was captured a digital film ( such as in a film camera)and later it was developed chemically in a dark room.

Photography has evolved over the years ever since it was discovered. For most, one can remember going to a nearby studio and then there was a guy who fixed his camera on a three fold stand (tripod) and ducking into a dark cloth and before that he would ask you to pose perfectly and then you find an intense light flash like a lightning which makes you close your eyes and even for some, you would be awestruck and never want to come for the next time making you camera shy.
Fast-forward to this millennial times of 2020, you got a smartphone in your hand and capturing your own photograph is just an arm’s length. Thus, photography has come a long way from a commercially esteemed rare possession embedded on a photo card to a self captured digital images floating on social media flooded with likes and comments.
