Patanjali Ayurvedic Ltd has been asked to stop advertising/publicising of Coronil medicine till further orders are issued by the government in this regard.

Yoga guru Baba Ramdev recently claimed that his ayurvedic company ‘Pantanjali’ has made a discovery by making medicine that can beat the novel Coronavirus, the Ayush Ministry of Uttarakhand clarified that the license issued to Patanjali ‘Ayurved Ltd’, was not to find a cure for Coronavirus. The license was only issued for the manufacturing of immunity booster Kits cough and fever medicine. The ministry of Ayush said that it is looking into the news media reports about the Patanjali Ayurved Ltd, Haridwar developing an Ayurvedic medicine for the treatment of COVID-19 and the Patanjali group has been asked to stop advertising/publicising till the issue is duly examined.

Joint Director State Medicinal Licensing Authority from Uttarakhand said, “Divya Pharmacy did not apply for a license of any kind of medicine related to Covid-19 and no license was issued in this regard. The license was issued only for the immunity booster kits, cough, and fever medicine. But now that it has come under the scanner of the Ayush department, a notice will be issued to Divya Pharmacy. If their response is not satisfactory then their current licenses will be cancelled.”

However, the Union Ayush Minister Shripad Naik said, “it is a good thing that Baba Ramdev has given a new medicine to the country but as per rules it has to come to Ayush Ministry first. They even said that they sent a report. We will look into it and permission will be given after seeing the report,” Naik told Ani.

The ministry in a release said that the Patanjali group has been asked to provide details of the name and composition of the medicines, places where the research study was conducted. Also, protocol, sample size, Institutional Ethics Committee clearance, CTRI registration, and results from data of the study have been asked to be submitted.
On Tuesday, Baba Ramdev launched ‘Coronil’ and made a claim of it being an Ayurvedic drug for the cure of novel Coronavirus. He even said that he has cured COVID-19 patients with Coronil tablets.

Ramdev said it will bring fruitful results after its intake for just one week to cure a COVID-19 patient with the use of Coronil medicine. In order to increase immunity power with this drug named ‘CORONIL’ Patanjali group has said that the ‘Coronil’ medicine will be available in the entire country by next week.
