Muslims across India come together to celebrate Bakrid.

The time has almost come to celebrate Eid once again. Eid al-Adha or Bakrid will be celebrated across the country on August 1. Muslims are preparing themselves to celebrate the day with their family and friends. It comes after two months of Eid-ul-Fitr, which is celebrated at the end of the sacred month of Ramadan.

Significance of the festival:
The significance of the festival is associated with Ibrahim and his son Ismael and their devotion to Allah. Therefore, the Eid al-Adha is the festival of sacrifice, which encourages people to offer their most loved objects or belongings to God. Many people also take part in the annual Haji pilgrimage and sacrifice an animal, mostly a goat, to prove their devotion to the lord.

When he decided to sacrifice his most loving thing to Allah, suddenly negative energy occurs in his mind. Allah was pleased by his devotion. And the message granted life to Ismael and Ibrahim was asked to offer a sheep instead.

When is it celebrated?
As per the Islamic lunar calendar, Muslims observe the festival on the 10th day of Dhu al-Hijah, the last month of the lunar year. This year, Saudi Arabia announced July 31 as the date of Eid al-Adha.Shahi Imam of Delhi’s Jama Masjid has said that Bakri Eid will be celebrated in India on August 1 as the moon was not sighted on the night of July 21.

Amid Covid-19, namaz will not be read in the Mosque. Besides this, patrolling will be done by Police to avoid chaos. Even, the goats will be sold online, to avoid social distancing.
