Maha Kumbh 2025, Fire Breaks Out, Cylinder Blast Causes Panic

A fire broke out in the Maha Kumbh Mela area of Prayagraj on January 20, 2025. The fire sparked panic among the people in the area, but quick action prevented it from spreading further. The fire was extinguished within 15-20 minutes, and fortunately, no one was injured or killed in the incident.

The blaze reportedly started due to a cylinder explosion near the Geeta Press tent. The Geeta Press Gorakhpur, along with several other tents, was affected, but no major damage occurred.

CM Yogi’s Inspection

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, who was in the fair area at the time, immediately took charge of the situation. He personally inspected the site and ensured that all necessary measures were in place to control the fire. There were no reports of damage to any Akhara, and all were reported to be safe.

Fire Contained In Less Than 20 Minutes

The fire started around 4:30 PM in Sector-19 of the fair area. Upon receiving the distress call, fire brigade teams and police personnel arrived at the scene promptly. The fire was brought under control in a matter of minutes, and normalcy was restored. District Magistrate Ravindra Kumar Mandar confirmed that no fatalities had occurred, and the situation was under control.

No Casualties Reported

Despite the initial panic, the fire did not result in any loss of life. Mahakumbh Mela DIG Vaibhav Krishna also confirmed there were no casualties. The efforts of the fire department, along with other agencies, were crucial in minimizing the damage.
